C O L I V I N G

If you are thinking of living in an agroecological vegan community, we invite you to come and try it out with us. To do so, we have prepared an integration process where you can come and check if this place is for you and if it meets the conditions you need to make Savia your new home. We remind you that we are a co-housing project and not a tourist accommodation, so we do not accept short-term stays or one-off visits, except in collaboration programs or open days that we organize from time to time.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?

We offer a community home under a long-term rental regime, in which as a resident you can stay in a private room, sharing the remaining areas of the home, as well as arable land to be able to produce fruits and vegetables. At Savia, we want to make it possible to experience and experiment with a sustainable lifestyle, learning together to live in a community, to collaborate with nature and to learn to return to the rural environment successfully.

I'M INTERESTED, HOW CAN I JOIN?

Before becoming a resident, you can come and try out a stay for full months, from a minimum of 1 month to a maximum of 3 months. The purpose of this trial period is for us to get to know each other, to verify that you want this to be your home, and for us to verify that there is compatibility between both parties. During this period, you can choose whether to stay in a private room or a shared room. After these initial 3 months, if you decide to continue your stay, you will become a permanent resident with a private room.

WHAT DOES THE RENT INCLUDE?

The rent includes accommodation, use of common areas, furniture, household items, and farm tools. It does not include any personal expenses or community consumption, such as electricity, fuel, water, internet, bed linen, cleaning, food expenses, or supplies for the garden. In order to cover community expenses, it will be necessary to contribute money that will be calculated monthly and divided equally between all the residents who are living in the space during that month. As for the common facilities we have:

  • Bathrooms
  • Kitchen
  • Laundry
  • Dining room / Multipurpose room
  • Living room
  • Common work room / Library
  • Meditation room
  • Gym
  • Outdoor spaces
  • Garden

ARE COMMUNITY ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT?

We carry out a series of activities according to the needs of the community. The purpose of these activities is to take care of our home and the people who live there, as well as to achieve a certain degree of self-sufficiency. These hours are initially estimated at 10 hours per week, although they may vary if the community needs it. They will mainly be the cultivation of the garden in a vegan way, plant-based cooking, preparation of preserves and food products for self-consumption, cleaning of common spaces, daily care of the spaces and gardening. These community activities are not considered ordinary work, they do not have a lucrative or work-related purpose and they are not carried out in exchange for financial compensation.

WHAT LIVING SPACES DO WE HAVE?

We have single and double rooms from 8m2 to 15m2, with prices varying from €190/month to €320/month, depending on their size and location in the house. We also have a shared room available for residents in the trial phase, with a monthly cost of €100.

WHAT COMMITMENTS DO I HAVE AS A RESIDENT?

  • Sign the rental contract and pay the monthly rent.
  • Sign the document accepting the community rules.
  • Carry out community activities with love, passion and dedication, thinking of the common good, of the project and of each of the residents who live there.
  • Contribute the corresponding money to cover community expenses.
  • Attend meetings for managing coexistence and emotional management.
  • Attend meetings for practical and organizational management.
  • Respect the rules of coexistence and create a climate of respect, honesty, empathy, listening and assertiveness, resolving conflicts in a non-violent way.
  • Understand and respect the values of the project, especially that of veganism.

CAN I BRING MY FAMILY?

In the house we can accommodate children from 7 years of age, as long as they are accompanied by their legal guardians. However, we believe that the house is not the appropriate space for a family, so if you have little ones, we recommend that you directly ask about cohousing, in order to have an individual house adapted to the needs of a family with children.

Regarding the animals under guardianship (pets), since the house is a single dwelling and not a zoological centre, there is a legal maximum number of animals that must be respected. If you want to come with your dogs or cats, you must ask us if we have enough space for them. In addition, if you come with animals, the minimum trial period will be 3 months, since there are currently animals living in the house, we consider that this is the minimum period for them to get to know each other and adapt to living together. We would like to be able to accommodate all of you who have a furry family, but since this is not possible, we recommend that you take an interest in cohousing.

WHAT IF I WANT TO HAVE MY OWN HOME?

For people who want to have their own home and belong to this community project in the long term, we are developing a cohousing on the adjoining plot. In cohousing you can build your own compact, sustainable home through a housing cooperative for use as a legal and property management tool. More information in the COHOUSING section.
